Merry & Bright

I have loved this stamp set since I saw it in last year's Holiday Mini and I was so excited to see it back in the Fall/Winter Catalog. But it will be retired as of January 18th! Bummer! So I had to use it while it is still current. This card uses the "Faux Tearing" Technique. It is a great way to add texture without the bulk.

Faux Tearing Technique:

1. Take a piece of scratch paper and roughly tear one end of it. Lay it over your card base.
2. Using a sponge, spread ink over the cardstock using the scratch paper to mask off part of the card base. Make sure you firmly hold onto the scratch paper to keep it from moving.
3. Depending on the colors you are using and how firmly you press down on the sponge, you may not see much of a change at first, but keep coloring the CS with ink.
4. Add some kind of background stamp to the inked area (DO NOT remove the scratch paper until after this step).
5. Take away the scratch paper and you will have the look of a torn piece of DSP on your card! Super easy!

RECIPE: Stamps-Merry & Bright; Ink-Certainly Celery, Real Red, Brilliant Blue & Bashful Blue; CS-Bashful Blue, Whisper White, Certainly Celery, and Real Red; Tools-Cutting Tool Kit & Blender Pens; and Embellishments-Certainly Celery Grosgrain Ribbon.

SNOW!!

I know this has nothing to do with stamping but since most of us our trying to survive this huge deep freeze and winter storms sweeping the US I thought I would share how the Webster family is surviving! Here is a slide show of pictures from our family's blog. We are taking advantage of the rare snowfall and sledding!! Even my little baby got into the act.

Enjoy the snow before it is gone! I hope it puts you all into the Christmas Spirit. So enjoy playing with snow than go inside and stamp with a warm cup of hot chocolate!

Happy Holidays!!

Rudolph Gift Tag

Here is another adorable idea for punches--Rudolph. Can you guess what punches made the antlers? They were made by using the punch "biting" technique (there maybe another name for is but that is what I call it). You punch out a Wide Oval than using the same punch bite into the oval to make a skinny oval half. Sounds complicated but it really isn't.

RECIPE: Ink-Close to Cocoa Classic Stamp Pad, Chocolate Chip Marker; CS-Basic Black, Cocolate Chip, Close to Cocoa, Real Red and Whisper White; and Punches-5-Petal Flower, Bobo Blossoms, Wide Oval, 1/4" Circle, and 3/4" Circle.

Gift Card Ornaments

I CASEd this idea from Lynda Glassmoyer. She shared a sample at our demonstrator meeting last month. It was such a cute idea that I couldn't wait to make one. I have been wanting to use the "A Cardinal Christmas" for quite a while now and thought it would look great with the Top Note Die. The back of the ornament is where you tuck the gift card into the slot.

RECIPE: Stamps-A Cardinal Christmas; Ink-Bravo Burgundy, Always Artichock, So Saffron, Real Red & Old Olive; DSP-Fall Prints Hostess Pack; CS-Whisper White, Real Red, Always Artichoke and Bravo Burgundy; Tools-Big Shot & Crop-A-Dile; Die-Top Note; Punches-Scallop Edge & Wide Oval; Embellishments-Jumbo Eyelets (Brass), Kiwi Kiss Striped Ribbon and Sage Shadow Grosgrain Ribbon.

Santa Gift Tag

I love Stampin' Up!'s punches. They are so versatile and there is so much that you can do with them. They also help card making and scrapbooking go a bit faster at times. You can also create so many adorable pictures with all of the punches. Here is a perfect example of that:

Isn't Santa adorable? He looks great on this gift tag or on a card. This was so easy to put together! I recommend using the Two-Way Glue Pen for all the little pieces.

RECIPE: Stamps-Warm Words, Ink-Whisper White Craft & Pretty in Pink Classic; CS-Basic Black, Blush Blossom, Real Red, & Whisper White; Punches-Scallop Circle, Scallop Square, Trio Flower, Word Window, 1/2" Circle and 1-3/8" Circle.

Gift Card Holder or Envelope?

Here is another fun twist on a gift card holder using SU!'s open-ended envelope. This is such a cute project, it looks like a little purse or wallet and would look pretty on your Christmas tree as well. We made these at my Ladies Stampin' Night Out! If you weren't there you missed out on another great night of laughs! Hopefully we will see you next time!!

RECIPE: DSP-Ski Slope; CS-Real Red, Whisper White & Old Olive; Stamps-Snow Swirled; Open-End Envelope; and Embellishments-Fire Round Rhinestone brads.

Milk Carton Container

Here is my latest project!! It is four small milk cartons and a holder. Way too cute! The idea is not mine. I got it from Becky Roberts. It is such a great gift holder! This is one I made for my MOPS Secret Sister (hopefully she knows nothing about my blog or my secret is blown!!). I filled it with m&ms and in the card I put the m&m Christmas Story. She loved it (I was casually watching her as she found it and exclaimed over it). I also added a giant paper clip bookmark for fun.

The paper is from the Ski Slope DSP from the Mini Catalog. This is such beautiful paper. I love the Chocolate Chip and Old Olive together.

Here is the M&M Story if you are interested:

The M & M's Christmas Story
by Pam Ridenour

As you hold these candies in your hand,
and turn them, you will see...
The M becomes a W, an E, and then a 3.
They tell the Christmas story. It's one I'm sure you know.
It took place in a stable a long, long, time ago.
The E is for the East, where the star shone so bright.
The M is for the Manger, where Baby Jesus slept that night.
The 3 is for the wise men, who came bearing gifts.
W is for Worship. Hallelujah, praise His name!
So as you eat these candies,

or share them with your friends,
remember the meaning of Christmas.

It's a love story that never ends.

RECIPE: DSP-Ski Slope (Mini Catalog); CS-Old Olive, Whisper White, & Chocolate Chip; Stamps-Snow Swirled; Ink-Old Olive; Punches-Scallop Circle, Wide Oval, & 1 3/8" Circle; Ribbon-Chocolate Chip Grosgrain.

Valentine's in December?

I know...I know...Who makes Valentine Cards in December, right? Well I did. This was my card for my November Card Swap with a group of SU! Demonstrators from across the country. It was really hard to switch gears to create this card. I have been making Christmas cards for two months so to go from snow to hearts took a little thought.

I really love Black-White-Red on cards, it is so elegant and sophisticated. I embossed the swirls on this card because I wanted them to really pop on the black.

RECIPE: CS-Basic Black, Whisper White & Real Red; Stamps-Baroque Motif; Ink-Real Red & Craft White; Ribbon-Real Red Grosgrain; Punches-Wide Oval, Large Oval & Scallop Edge.

Glittering Snowflakes

Here is the last card we made at Stamp Club. This card used the Big Shot and the Snowflake #2 Originalz Die. We also adhered the glitter with Heat N' Stick Powder which was a new process for me but I love the final result. The snowflake is so beautiful! I may make some more for some ornaments for our tree.

Oh...The background: We stamped the background using a scrap snowflake and stampin' sponges. We layed the snowflake down and sponged around it. I started with the lightest shade of blue and gradually got darker. I added some silver and white snowflakes to the background to finish it.

If you would like detailed instructions on how to create this card, e-mail me to receive a pdf file with instructions.

RECIPE: CS-Baja Breeze, Whisper White, Brushed Silver & Chipboard; Ink-Pacific Point, Baja Breeze, Encore Silver, Whisper White & Not Quite Navy; Stamps-Snow Swirled; Big Shot; Dies-Snowflake #2; Embossing-Dazzling Diamonds & Heat N'Stick Powder.

Snowy Landscape

It has been a bit since I have posted. I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving Weekend full of family and friends. Unfortunately right after November's Stamp Club my baby and I became very sick and it has taken us both almost two weeks to get over this darn cold. So I have some catch up work to do with my blog posts over the next few days.

Here is the second card we made at Stamp Club and it was my swap at the Shoebox Swap earilier last month (told you I was behind!). This is a beautiful landscape card that I CASEd from Stamper's Showcase. As soon as I saw it I knew I wanted to re-create it. All of my ladies loved it.

Since November's theme was "Holiday Glitz" we added lots of fun glitter to everything. (I am still sweeping glitter off of my hardwood floors). This card was made using the MASKING Technique. If you would like a pdf file with detailed instructions on how to create this card e-mail me.

RECIPE: CS-Ballet Blue, Whisper White & Basic Black; Ink-Basic Black & Ballet Blue; Stamps-Lovely as a Tree & Heard from the Heart; Embellishments-Dazzling Diamonds & Two-Way Glue.
